The American Banjo Fraternity included a very well done 2 year calendar as a supplement to the latest issue of their journal The Five-Stringer. It features excellently reproduced old photos of female classic banjo players, including a stunning portrait of Shirley Spaulding with her custom made Orpheum #3.  I have a question for Shawn McSweeny who did a lot of the work in preparing this calendar. Shawn, do you know how I can get more copies? I've had no response from the usual ABF email addresses. These are great calendars and would make terrific gifts. Thanks!

Yes, it is a great calendar.  I hung mine in my office the day after I got it.

The ABF had a rally this weekend.  I'm sure Eli will reply when he returns.

I think I'd like one of those, Jody - can you let us know what you find out?

Yup, mine is hung right behind me here in my cubicle. I told everyone in my area, "Damn the consequences, I'm hanging up my new girlie calendar!"

Ane it's not even in 2014 yet. So how does one get more of these?

Like Joel said, you probably will have to wait until everybody gets back from the ABF rally. There's nothing on the ABF website about it...and I don't see a price on it anywhere.

One would think that it would be a really good funding generator for the ABF. A simple promo on the various banjo sites (here, our Minstrel cousin-site and BHO) might fund a scholarship or three.

Trap was right. I'm just back from the rally.

As I understand it, copies of the calendar will be available through the ABF website soon. Purchase price and shipping are to be quite reasonable.  If /when I have more info, I will post it here.

Thanks, Shawn. And thanks for doing the calendar.

I think it is wonderful that these old photos were rescued and restored before they disappeared. Good work, Shawn. Now they will be here forever.

Hal

Thanks for all the positive comments. Most of the photos are from Eli K.'s collection and they restored nicely.          .   .    .     Forever is a very long time. I'll settle for indefinitely.
