Recommend me some new pieces

I'm looking for beautiful, nostalgic pieces like You and a Canoe and At Sunset (by Grimshaw), Rose Leaves Gavotte and Pompadour (by Morley), etc. Does anybody know of similar pieces that they could recommend?

My entry to the world's most syrupy Classic Banjo tune, apart from You and  A Canoe,  goes to Fascination Waltz.

This was an arrangement by Steve Harrison and myself. Here is my mawkish, mellifluous performance on Youtube. :-

Good choices.  It's hard to beat 'At Sunset' for a romantic, descriptive piece.  The two 'Black-Tie Banjo' albums have some lovely Alfred Cammeyer selections.  I particularly like: 'Serenade' and 'All Alone.'  Also, 'Ballad no1.'

I like "The Stars are Shining", Grimshaw. 

As mentioned, there are plenty if you comb through Cammeyer's stuff.

Bradbury's "Romance" is nice, as is his "Balled in Eb" in the 61 book.

If I can add my two pennies worth, have a listen/look at 'Dixie' published in 1910 by Harry Lincoln. It's a delightful tune and is described by Lincoln as a rag caprice. My arrangement, which I did some years ago, is available in the library...Steve.

Never mind, I went and looked it up myself. My immediate reaction was based on years of playing music professionally in Virginia (US), where people requested "Dixie" for the express purpose of harassing the black guys in the band. More than once. More than twice...

Hi Jocko.....No, it is Dixie in name only, have a listen to the midi in the library. It's a delightful piece of music written by Harry Lincoln which he has described as a rag caprice. It in no way resembles the Dixie of which you have spoken. I played through it this afternoon and have decided that it is worth a second look and I intend to write an amended arrangement over the next few days......Steve
