Just wondering if anyone has a copy of the Yacht Club March by Harry J. Fiske (1903). I believe it may be the piece Olly Oakley recorded. It's 725 in Turner's Banjo Budget. Many thanks,
Brett Lowe (New Zealand)

All I have is the piano with banjo guide. It is marked that it is an arrangement by Fisk. See attached.
OK, I found this website with the original sheet music...composed by Richard H. Barker. There's a neat video of the Navy Band playing this piece.
Ossman recorded "Yacht Club March" for Edison Bell in London, May,1900 (cyl 7056), presumably the same piece as above.
Oakley recorded "Yacht Club March" for Gramophone, March 12, 1903 and for Edison Bell Dec. 10, 1903. It is the same piece as above. Will post the Oakley recording later.
The Fiske arrangement (UK), likely does not credit composer Barker (USA) to avoid copyright fees.
I'll have a look through the mouldering pile later today.
Brett,
Here's my copy of The Yacht Club as arranged by Harry Fiske. I have played this on and off for many years - it's not all that difficult (see below) - but I could never get much musical satisfaction out of it. For a banjo solo I consider it a bit 'thin', lots of notes but no oomph. The piano part depends a lot on the left hand pounding for effect, and that just doesn't get reflected in Fiske's arrangement. Good luck with it.
Regards
Tony
PS. If you're finding a banjo piece easy, you're probably not playing it right!
