This is another example of a classic ragtime tune that works well on the banjo. I've set the tempo slightly higher than that on the original piano score and transposed the key from F to G for ease of playing. There are two more of my Fischler arrangements in the library. The score and midi are in the library...Steve.

Another great rag, Steve. Well done!

Looks like Fischler (or his publisher) may have had a thing for "hot" stuff. He published "Chili Sauce" and "Hot Scotch" rags too. The artwork for "Chili Sauce" is very similar. "Chili Sauce Rag" is pretty good...minor key too.

Thanks Marc, I love the Skedaddlers recording, I've already put the other tunes on my to do list. Fischler published 7 rags so I might do the set...Steve.

Did the character on the title sheet eat too much pepper sauce so that he got gout?  Is that the joke?

No idea. My mother suffered from gout and there's no way she could stand any sort of a bandage on her foot. She complained that she had to stick her foot out of the sheet at night...couldn't stand anything to touch it.

The bottle is Tobasco sauce...a cartoon version but the diamond-shaped label gives it away.

Perhaps he thinks the sauce is responsible for his foot getting hot?

They did a couple of films where Oliver had gout.  Each time he had a huge bandaged foot.

It was caused by "rich foods" (like spicy foods I suppose).  We know a little more about it now.

I would think the gentleman has got a "Rheumatiz" in his foot. Gout is very specific to the big toe joint...and yes, very commonly made fun of as it was associated with the rich (and overweight), who could eat a lot of meat and rich foods. When Mom had an attack, she ate very low protein meals...like steamed rice and veggies.

For the past 5 yrs, we've been driving past the Laurel and Hardy museum in Harlan, GA on the way to Myrtle Beach and back. I've wanted to stop...but we just kept driving.
