About The Tantalizer

Whew! OK this time The Tantalizer came through. the video may be watched and heard,  I think it failed twice before because all the Ones And Zeroes at Ning, Google, and youtube got their grommets in an uproar after hearing all the flubbed passages I played. So here's a question for the experts and deep thinkers in banjo ningland:  Is the tantalizer in the title a woman? Or is the tune itself the tantalizer?

ps: this is a different tune from A Tennessee Tantalizer.

Knowing ragtime my guess would be that the "Tantaliser" in question is a lady of African descent, as in "My Creole Belle", "Ma Honey Gal" and so forth.

I found this front cover for the Tennessee Tantalizer (Steve did a score for this recently that is in the  MUSIC LIBRARY)

The text accompanying the score states:

"The Tennessee Tantalizer in question is no doubt the giant water melon that is the centre of admiration as seen on the front cover of the original sheet music. That the indefinite article was used for the title suggests that water melons are not the only tantalisers to be found in that noble Volunteer State."

Mike, perhaps it refers to  My Creole Belle or My Honey Gal

BUT...  Big Tantalizing Melons ?    What can that mean?????

Ah, the New World and its bountiful fruits. Nell Gwyn's oranges pale in comparison with the Tennesse Tantaliser's melons!
