Herbert J. Ellis - Reverie | Steven Watson, zither banjo

Trying out the zither banjo for the first time. I found this piece by Ellis in an issue of BMG -- it seems to suit the ZB especially.

That was a stellar rendition!

This is really the first occasion you played a zither-banjo? If so I would say you and the zither-banjo are made for each other. That is excellent playing.  You bring out the characteristic zither-banjo shimmer but not the sonic harshness that this instrument will produce if the player is not careful.  5 stars from me.

Thanks both very much. Jody, it still sounds a bit too harsh and tinny to my ears! Hard to temper. I have to wonder if the zither banjoists were right about nails (I play without).

Beautifully played.

Excellent!  I would agree with Jody about you and the ZB: you were made for each other.  It can take a while before a new instrument gets to sound the way you want it - for all our sakes, stick at it!

Thank you for the encouragement, Tony -- much appreciated! The ZB is growing on me...
