So...

I'm digging thru boxes of music, trying to get my music room uncluttered. I was flipping thru a large stack of old printouts (I found a tab I'd downloaded from something called "the worldwide web" in 1994) and ran across the 1st, 2nd & piano parts to Joe Morley's "Pastime Schottische"...which isn't listed in the music library or "Works of Joe Morley" here.

Is this just another AKA piece, released under a different, more commonly known title? I cannot believe it is a unicorn. I believe it was published in "Banjo World"...the typeface looks modern...middle-20th Century, at least.

I managed to climb the stairs and get to the Morley pile, 'Pastime Schottische' is No. 34 in E&C lists so it was published full size rather than just in 'The Banjo World'. I've not got this one so it's a welcome addition to the collection, thank you for sharing this rarity with us.

I'm glad it shows up in the lists. As I said, it may have come from David Wade. Thanks for looking!

I summoned up the energy to photograph the back cover of No. 33 in the E&C lists, 'Dreamland Gavotte', which is dated 1894, this shows No. 34 'Pastime Schottische' listed and  that E&C had only got 43 publications in their lists around this time.

This is the back cover of No.146 'Brooklyn Polka' which is undated but shows that the E&C lists had got to No.151 some time later.

Thank you so much for those, Richard! What a great overview of the early yrs of E&C publishing. We need to find them all!!

Yes, it's all very interesting to the banjo fan; of the early Morley pieces, I particularly like the 'Violet Mazurka' which is very accessible and tuneful and which I still play.

I have played it (Violet Mazurka), not knowing it was the earliest on the list. Recently tried "In The Moonlight, Barn Dance" too.
