The banshee

I was looking at the score for the banshee by Emile Grimshaw, and I noticed that he marked the dance section "not to be played quickly" and yet it's set to vivace or at least more BPM than you would expect. Is this a publishing error or is it just something that the publishers did against Grimshaw's instructions? Sorry I have so many questions I'm new to this world of classic banjo and I want to learn as much as possible.
