He'd Have To Get Under, Get Out And Get Under (1913)...Maurice Abrahams

This another of my arrangements of early 20th Century popular songs and continues my automobile theme. The lyrics were by Grant Clarke & Edgar Leslie. It was recorded by many popular singers but my favourite recording is by Billy Murray which I've attached. It's well worth a listen to put the arrangement into context. The score and midi are in the library...Steve.

LOL. I almost sent this one to you...along with "The Little Ford Rambled Right Along". Both great hits for Billy Murray...and favorites of mine.

Delightful arrangement, Steve. I was singing along!

Thanks Marc, I find the tune very infectious and it's turned into a bit of an earworm! The Lyrics are well written, they tell an entertaining story and are a cut above some of the other songs of that era. I've downloaded a batch of Billy Murray MP3s including 'Little Ford' and another of my favourites which would make good banjo piece, "Oh! Johnny Oh!"

The structure of my arrangements for songs are almost the opposite to that of many classic banjo tunes.  Generally the chords carry the melody with single notes linking the phrases whereas in classic tunes the melody is usually picked out using single notes with chord embellishments......Steve.
