A Site Dedicated to all enthusiasts of Classic Style Banjo
This is a popular tune written by the Brazilian composer José Gomés de Abreu aka Zequina. It's been recorded by numerous musicians and singers over the years in many and varied formats and tempos. My favourite recording is by the late Edmundo Ros and his Latin orchestra who play it as a medium paced Samba, the recording of which can be found on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4iSlFz3A1k
There are numerous arrangements written for guitar so I thought I'd see how it would sound on the banjo. I've worked out what I think is the most efficient fingering and have added plenty of fret numbers and position markers to help navigate the fret board. The score and midi are in the library...Steve.

Hi Marc, I wonder if four banjo players could come up with something like that, it's certainly an accomplished rendition? I've arranged a couple more of Abreu's tunes, none of which are likely to have been arranged for banjo, and they should be ready to post in due course. One them is a Samba and the other a Tango and are further examples of my efforts to arrange music that you wouldn't necessarily expect to hear played on the banjo and will hopefully demonstrate how versatile the banjo can be with a little imagination.......Steve.
I like this version...
Excellent, Steve. As you probably know, I really enjoy South American dance styles. More Tango for da Banjo!
