If you over feed your banjo and do not give it enough exercise, this is what happens.

Maybe this is a normal sized banjo and the photo shows what happens when a person exercises too much and does not eat.

It was a banjo similar to this that inspired Fred van Eps to cut a hole in the middle of the vellum.    So that he could poke his arm through and play the monster.   Perish the thought.

I thought you had captured a leprechaun playing the banjo.

And then I realized how silly that was. Leprechauns have pots of gold. Banjo players owe pots of gold.

This post sort of reminds me of being in the showers at school.

There is always one who just has to show off ;-)

Money means nothing to him.    He is the perfect example of a ' self taught ' banjo player, who proudly and painfully exclaims " I've never had a lesson in my life ".    Actually, if the truth be known,  his father gave him that banjo when he was six and said, " You'll grow into it. "

Ian, I have led a very shelter life.    I haven't even been sheep shearing in NZ.   Surely, he wouldn't take his big banjo into the shower to play.

Just found this post and I am astounded at the size of that banjo. Not sure if the banjo is bigger than the man, or the man is a very small banjo player. Interesting find!

Once again, West Africans beat the banjo orchestra to the punch with the bass akonting.

They weren't all locked up in the 1920's either :-)

I wonder what gauge of strings they used on those giant banjos: rope?
