Tone ring
Does anyone have any experience with banjos with tone rings? I'd like to get a banjo with one just to see the difference.

"Tone Ring" is extremely vague and covers a HUGE amount of variation. It is only one part of the overall construction. The "electric truss" (often incorrectly called a "whyte Laydie" tone ring) is going to be different in a nickel rim v. a wood rim v. a WL model with bracket band rim.
I would say that pretty much everyone here has had some experience with some kind of "tone ring".
