So...
I'm digging thru boxes of music, trying to get my music room uncluttered. I was flipping thru a large stack of old printouts (I found a tab I'd downloaded from something called "the worldwide web" in 1994) and ran across the 1st, 2nd & piano parts to Joe Morley's "Pastime Schottische"...which isn't listed in the music library or "Works of Joe Morley" here.
Is this just another AKA piece, released under a different, more commonly known title? I cannot believe it is a unicorn. I believe it was published in "Banjo World"...the typeface looks modern...middle-20th Century, at least.

It seems to ring a bell, can we have a look at it please?
Sorry, I intended to scan it but have been kept busy since posting. Give me a minute!
See attached!
I suspect this came from David Wade. He sent me piles of stuff when I was first getting going.
Here's an mp3 of the tune, both parts (don't listen to it Joel, you'll go blind!). ;-) I'll have a cleaned-up score sometime today...which will include all the flags, positions, fingering, etc.
Initial thoughts: Sounds (and looks) like an easy piece (I haven't tried to play it yet). There are a few errors I will correct...nothing major, a dot here, M13 has an ascending C# which isn't taken a half-step down in the descent...I do like the slide in the 2nd banjo part in that measure.
If you note other errors or corrections that need doing, please let me know!
There may be some wrong chords in the second banjo part. I hear momentary clusters of half steps piled on top of each other that are possibly not intentional.

Yes...I don't like the 2nd banjo C+ inversion under the G#s (quarter notes, 1st banjo) in the A part. You'll need to tell me which piles you don't like and I'll check.

Ok, here's the full new/clean file. This includes the piece in its (mostly, I can't duplicate it exactly) original format as a duet, all position and fingering and 5th string flags. Then, I've separated the two parts into individual sheets (1st Banjo, 2 pages. 2nd Banjo, 1 page). Then, of course, there's the Tab files as individual parts.
Look it over, pick it apart. Changes are just a click away.
I played through the entire 2nd banjo part and it all makes sense including the C+ chord you mention (it may not be the best sound but it is not a musical error). But when I listen to the midi something sounds wrong. Mostly it's the two middle chords in measure 4. It's fine as written but something seems off in the midi. And there's something sounding wrong at the start of the trio. But when I play it on the banjo it makes sense going along with the 1st banjo part.
I played it last night... sounds like a schottische.
Yah. Nothing special, just odd that it isn't listed. I still suspect it is a re-named bit of fluff. I need to look at the tutor and see if it might be in there under a different title.
Well, I believe there is value to making all of the banjo music (even the meh) available. One man's "meh" is another's "hey!". Well, probably not, but still.
And I think you for posting this. I'll add it to the Archive (I should go ahead and dump all the Morley stuff on there, I just know that at some point I will get access to original copies of a lot of it so that I can make better scans).
