I have been asked numerous times for scores suitable for playing by Beginners to Classic Style.

We have now added functions to the SEARCH facility within the MUSIC LIBRARY so that "newbies" can easliy locate suitable music.

Simply tick the appropriate box and then click SEARCH, or leave boxes unchecked and search in the normal way.

If you have any suggestions for beginners' pieces that should be added to the list of tunes, please do let me know.

What is the difference between a beginner's piece and one that is already marked "Easy"?

Now beginners can find easy ones easily... I guess.

Or we could add complete scanned TBB albums to the JOURNALS AND SONG ALBUMS page and create an index?

I believe that Trapdoor2 intended to work on something similar, perhaps we can have a think in the New Year.

That would prevent duplication and make the MUSIC LIBRARY database less cumbersome.

There is an excel spreadsheet here:

scroll down to the bottom.

I have found it to be very useful.  I have only found a couple of typos in it.

I have made a start on it. Essentially, I'm just printing individual pages (or multiples, depending) to PDF and giving it a file name based on the title. Right now, I'm just appending the title of the piece to the original file name, example: Turner's March Album 10 becomes Barbary March_Turner's March Album 10. I suppose I could include the composer in the file name: Barbary March_Alf Wood_Turner's March Album, etc., etc.

Ian, if you have a format you would prefer for these filenames, please let me know!

I started with the Jacob's collections as a test and have No. 1-5 "disassembled" into individual files (done yesterday afternoon). I had the old Hal Allert copies of my Turner collection but spent some time this morning downloading Joel's cleaner copies from the Internet Archive.

FWIW, I have no intent to include "songs" (some of the albums have lyrics, etc.). If somebody wants them included, let me know!

Separating the albums into separate "piece" files is very easy (print a page range to PDF, rename, done) so it really is just seat time here at the PC.

I have not yet decided how to capture the jigs and reels. They usually come two and three per page and while I'd like each title separate, I don't want to spend time blanking out the spurious titles. Current plan is that any page with multiple titles will get multiple file names (one for each piece).

I am wide open for suggestions!

I think there might be two subjects happening at the same time.

Subject #1, organize and track down all of the "Turner's Banjo Budget" pieces.  These are numbered sheet music pieces that were published by JAT in a series that included at least 914 individual pieces of music for banjo.  Request to ad a clickable section on the music library that brings up just a list of available titles that were published in this numbered series.

Subject #2, the various Banjo Albums published by JAT which included short pieces, single parts of the sheet music found in "Turner's Banjo Budget" (some of which were abridged).
