Been raining here most of the weekend...so, time for TAB.

Joe Morley's stuff is always in the mix and I've selected three to do this weeked (after spending an evening listening to the stuff in the "Works of Joe Morley" section):

"Sunflower Breakdown" (done)
"A Banjo Diversion" (working)
"Water Nymphs" (next in line, I have to replace the kitchen faucet first)

Anyone have a request or suggestion to put next in line?

My vote goes for Varsity Polka... love it !

Diana

Done and done. Both are printed out and shuffled into the pile. After I finish being a water-nymph (fixing the faucet...now I have to make a trip to the big-box store to buy a part), I'll crack on.

Marc, who seems to have far too much spare time on his hands, ("Mizz Diane, any Jobs need doing???")

has now completed the TABs for the following Morley pieces that feature on the "WORKS OF JOE MORLEY" page.

Give them a try as there are some cracking tunes from the Master!

I have attached Marc's TAB scores to the original notation files in the MUSIC LIBRARY for FREE download.

Thanks again Marc.

..enjoy

Be careful there Ian. Miz Diane might have her ESP link up. I have no doubt that she can telepathically send "honey-do" vibes to thereallynicelady...

I was going to start Morley's "Diana" last night but Miz Diane's evening-chore list took me well past my bedtime. Tonight I have a Kitchen Pass and shall be at the pub, quaffing ale-which-cannot-be-seen-thru...and eating red-beans and rice.

My votes goes for 'Danse Arlequin' - a great Morley tune.  Clive Palmer plays this very slowly (but cleanly) on the 'Banjoland' album which gives me hope that one day, I too, will be able to play it!

Moved up the list, Carrie. That's been one of my favorites for years and I've simply just not gotten around to doing it yet. I love Bill Ball's version!

Thanks Marc, I look forward to that.  It's such a jolly tune.

OK, I just sent the TAB, dots and MIDI of "Diana" to Ian. What a crazy tune! Has more modulations than a reverse-current master nodule. ;-)

Actually, it reminds me a little of some of the songs written for Broadway musicals (70's? 80's?).

The pace may seem a little fast (MIDI is set at 120bpm) but I didn't really 'get' the tune until I got up to there. @ 100, I think it is slow enough for my brain to be slightly ahead...and it gets confused when there's an unexpected modulation. @ 120, my software can't think fast enough to generate an expectation and just gives up and enjoys it. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking with it. ;-)

There were a few errors found in the dots from JAT...not too bad though. I shortened the TAB by lopping off all the repeated sections at the end and creating a CODA. The sections aren't named in the dots...so I used: Intro, A, B, C, Trio1, Trio2 and a CODA. It should be played: Intro-AA-BB-C-B-T1T1-T2T2-Intro-A-B-C-B-CODA (whew!).

Last TAB, "Danse Arlequin" is complete and added to the site (thanks, Ian!). I think I'm done with the complicated stuff for a little while... ;-)

That was quick!  Thanks, Marc - I'm looking forward to playing this one (albeit at 'waltz-speed'..:)
