Did anyone else notice (or bid) that Cammeyer's "My Adventuresome Banjo" was on auction on eBay and a few hours ago it went for £80.78?  Yow!  Well, it *was* signed by the author and that might explain the high price. I bid twice but nowhere close to that territory. I already have his signature, stamped into the heel of a banjo anyway. And the day before a CE Professional went for £908.55 on an eBay auction.   A great banjo no doubt but that's a lotta moolah.  Does this mean that the musical value of English banjos is at last being recognized and reflected in monetary value?

Tell me about it. I was bidding on it and lost at the last moment :(

Yes, I put in a bid on the book...but it never was submitted (I use a sniping program). I didn't throw enough money at it either.

I won an obscure tutor the other day...but paid too much for it. Yes, I think there are more folks out there...and some of them have deep pockets!

any confessions? did anyone here win the book or banjo?

I'd like to know who's buying them...it doesn't sound like anyone from our group or we'd have got to hear about it...maybe there's a secret bunch of classic banjoists out there yet to be discovered!  I bought a couple of English banjos last year and certainly didn't pay over the odds...Steve.

One of the Lost Tribes of Banjoists, perhaps?

Just to cheer up everyone who lost out in the auction...

Here are a couple of pics on MY CE Professional

..isn't it lovely. I bet we would all like one, he said smugly  ;-)

I think it 's the regular price to pay for  a CE pro . On ebay_UK , they go between 650 & 900 £ . There 's one now in the BHO  ' classified adds : 900 € ( 1000 $ or 800 £ approx ) ; The last  sold by JAT was 925 £ .

If you have such a banjo in your hands , you will see the pot is very loud , it ' a  a good "machine "

not me ; i had mine on ebay UK 3 years ago for 500 £ ; not too expensive but i had to change the tuners and re straight the  fingerboard

It's the unsigned copies of MAB which make the real money. I always wonder who bought this book when it was originally published, it's just a lot of name dropping and not much else, especially for the banjo fan.

My comments about high prices were directed at the book.  About the banjo price I was speculating/contemplating whether at last the general high quality of english banjos was starting to be more universally recognized.
