I would like to thank site member Barbara Dryden for loaning this very old and crumbling BMG to help fill a gap in the John Field Memorial BMG Library.

I have scanned Photoshop processed and OCR processed it so that it can be searched for specific text.  The September 1904 is now in the BMG LIBRARY for free download.

Sound advice from Will Pettit on page 181,

"Any hints to others?" as Will Pettit rose to go.

" Practise, of course, and avoid being nervous if they can. I am a great believer in the cold bath with dumb-bells after- wards, as well as in cycling, rowing, swimming, and golf to keep one in good health. Mens sana in corpore sano applies very forcibly to the banjo. Good-bye."

Mens sana in corpore sano :  Sound in body and mind, for the banjo.

I fully agree and always start the day with vigorous exercise...Up..Down..Up.. Down..Up..Down     and then the other eyelid.

;-)

I find that two zither banjos work nicely for swinging around like Indian clubs... cheaper too!

The wire strings work nice for flossing my teeth.

I find that a few (or more) pints of my home brewed beer helps me relax after a particularly gruelling banjo session....Steve.
