Female Banjo Calendar Update

OK! I've heard from Eli Kaufman of the American Banjo Fraternity.  The delay was due to calculating the postage options. I'll reproduce his message to me here in this post. Note that these are prices to ABF members. Every one who visits this site should be an ABF member, even if like me, you are not really a "joiner". The cost is so low and the benefits are high. Also these prices are for destinations in the USA. For everywhere else the price will of course be higher. Here is Eli's message:

Hi Jody, 

Re your request for ordering  copies of the ABF Women and the Banjo Calendar--Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. We have had to  do  some postage calculations.   Postage is getting expensive and  somewhat complex. Depending on how many you order there are different  postage  choices.

 We have it pretty much figured out, but if you are ordering  more than 10* please  let us know in advance so we can double check to navigate the different rate possibilities.

I've received an update from Eli Kaufman. Good news. The overseas postage will not be very high.

I don't suppose it will be an issue with the calender but I found out to my cost, when receiving some banjo bits from the USA, that any imported goods valued at over £13 are subject to value added tax in the UK. I had to pay an extra £11 before the post office would release my goods.

Does that apply when the total value is over £13  or when the value of any individual item in a parcel has that value? At any rate, the declared value of shipped printed goods, as with shipped CDs,  is usually the manufacturing cost, not the retail price. This is standard practice and aligns with all the other labyrinthine  red tape practices of government bureaucracies and their post offices.

in France , the government NEED , need , NEED , Need money and if the invoice is under the limit to apply the tax ( TVA + customs + transporter fee ) , they can add the total  item + price of shipping to be more than the limit and apply the tax
