New article added to our "WHAT IS CLASSIC BANJO?" page

Site member Tony Thomas wanted to clarify the often stated misconceptions regarding the origins of the banjo and its roots in the Caribbean and African American culture.

He also explains Joel Walker Sweeney's contribution to the increasing popularity of the 5 string banjo.

I have added his essay as  a new section on our WHAT IS CLASSIC BANJO? page.

I am also pleased and delighted. Thanks to you both Tony and Ian.

Thank you to both Tony and Ian. And thanks especially for the link to Shlomo Pestcoe's wonderful page--a treasure trove of videos, links and scholarship about the earliest period in banjo music and its West African roots.

Well done, this is what I like about this site -- the fact that we have so many knowledgeable members willing to contribute and make this such a great place. Thanks, Tony and Ian.
