Frank Hunkler has written a post that would be of interest to everyone here but has placed in the hard-to-operate Chat room area. I tried to reply but I can't figure out how it works.

Here's what it said:

  • My uncle, Fr Adam Hunkler, produced one vinyl recording of his classic banjo music. I have several copies and have listened to it hundreds of times. He is a legend in our family. Have you folks heard of him. There are recordings not on vinyl as well. Thanks. I see one mention of him on this site.

If you go into Hal Alerts 'Classic Banjo' website you can purchase a fully digitally restored Adam Hunkler CD for a reasonale price.    Seek and ye shall find.

Rev. Adam Hunkler

Quote from Hall Allert's site:

"Father Adam Hunkler was born on March 31, 1904. the oldest of nine children and was responsible for the entry of his family into the Catholic Church. He was ordained in 1930 and died on July 9, 1983. Through his years as a Benedictine at the Assumption Abbey in North Dakota, Father Adam devoted his life to the mastery of the banjo. He was widely known over America and the world and had a unique style of interpretation and delivery. He stands besides the finest masters of the past. These cuts of Rev. Adam Hunkler represent the apex of this master's art."

Thank you Jody for mentioning this. The CHAT area is seldom used and is designed, mainly, for LIVE one to one chat. The text disappears when the poster logs off.

I have contacted Frank Hunkler to explain the correct way to post a discussion.

I enjoy the Rev. Hunkler recording I got from Hall's store. Here are pics of the front and back cover of the album.

But when both chatable parties are logged on *how* does  it work? I have been contacted several times and my replies have not been seen until days later.

OK, for those who are also mystified by the Chat feature, both one to one and Main Room, pressing Enter on PC or Return on Mac is the *send* feature.  I just had a private and public "chat" with The Really Nice Man, and it all works.

A little late to the party here,  but I live not far from the Abbey where Rev. Hunkler lived;  I'm working on an article for my website.  Going to go to the Abbey,  etc.  Anecdotes from some of the locals, etc.  I love his record...it's a classic banjo gem.

I'll keep anyone interested posted on progress...
