Gotta love the brazen hyperbole of "... I open a new era in Banjos - the era of FEELING, hitherto unknown ... "

I've seen people use ribbons as straps on their gourd banjos ... I tried it on my gourd banjo but found it uncomfortable.

This post is somewhat timely as I've been wondering about straps for banjos in the late 19th C ... Were they uncommon?

Thanks.
I put a big, wide, red ribbon strap on my Windsor #1 a few months ago. Not as comfortable as a good leather strap but it worked well enough. I actually ran the ribbon thru the slot under the fingerboard (hollow neck) and then simply around my neck, much like the photo of Joe Morley here: http://www.witchhazelmusic.co.uk/JoeMorley/pages/intro.htm
