A Bag of Rags from Steve Harrison

I am sure that Steve has tried to squeeze as many notes as he can into his new arrangement of what sounds to be a superb Ragtime piece.

"A Bag of Rags", subtitled "The Keystone Cops" (but it is not what I recognise as the Keystone Cops theme) was composed by W.R McKanlass in 1912.  

Steve keeps coming up with these great arrangements not heard on banjo before, and it is now in the MUSIC LIBRARY with a midi file so that you can hear it and download it.

I got the information about the Keystone Cops from Bill Edward's rag time site. It was apparently one of the pieces recommended to played during the 'Cops' films. After I heard the midi, I had to give it a go on the banjo. I've had to be a bit inventive with bars 26 to 31 in the second section as the piano chords didn't  sound too good on banjo. I've used the same basic chords but changed the notes around a little to make it sound more sympathetic. All I've got to do now is get in plenty of practice to get up to speed!

Come on Steve, get one under your fingers and do a video for us.

There is nothing better than an arranger doing the performance as you can set the standard for us all!

Hi Ian..I'll see what I can do..it's now the start of the school summer holidays and Olivia, my very active 6 year old granddaughter, will be with us most days whilst mom and dad work. She will be very demanding of my time and I suspect I'll struggle to get near my banjo whilst she's here.
