A Site Dedicated to all enthusiasts of Classic Style Banjo
Many members made donations last year towards the funding of the site and we are still ahead with funds until around July. I have just been asked if we had a facility to accept donations to fund further enhancements so I have added a Paypal CHIPIN box on the front page.
If you have enjoyed your time here and taken advantage of the score downloads, please help out if you can, to ensure the long term running of the website.

Just chipped in $80. Classic Banjo expects that every banjoist will do his/her duty!
Hi Ian, Dec. 31st on the ChipIn might be confusing to those not familiar with it . They may think they have missed it and not that it refers to Dec. 31st 2012. I take it that we are going for the big package this time like we did the first year that Ning charged.
Thank you to those who have volunteered donations. They will all go in the pot for the future!
Sylvia, just so we all know the situation, we have funds already to cover to the date of the next Ning annual invoice due around July, and part of next year's $225 Ning fees.
We also have a new Library hosting server to pay for. The annual cost will be in the region of $350- $400 in total (including the NING annual charge of $225)
We have approx. $120 on hand, so my target of $500 by the end of the this year would keep the site paid for for about the next 2 years. The unfortunate part is that they all want paying "up front", so I have already paid for server and domain hosting.
Thank's for the info. Ian . As other years, you can rely on my contribution.
I am not a computer man really Ian, so you will have to tell me what to do as regards making a contribution on this Chipin thing, and I will do it.
I have been busy lately with other things but the site looks very good and the music library is excellent - just one very minor thing - if you file all of Farland's ( and arrangements by other composers for the banjo) stuff under the composer's name, it will disappear - most of his pieces are arrangements.
Hello Richard,
CHIPIN is designed for people who have a Paypal account, as "most" internet users now do. If you don't own a Paypal a/c I could take a cheque if you wish to donate towards the enhancements on ongoing of the site. Let me know and I will email you privately.
Regarding Farland. I take the point, but if you type FAR or FARL or even FARLAND in the search box on the Music Library page all his arrangements will appear.
Thanks for pointing it out. I will have a think. I agree that Farland's music, albeit often arrangements, should not be lost!
Ian, it doesn't appear that the Chipin widget is working...have been attempting to use it but to no avail. It is not tracking donations either. Just shows "$0.00" and asks one to become the first to donate...
Hi Marc,
Hmmm, It is working fine here! I have received donations from countries both over here and from the USA.
Could you you clear your cache and try again as it working when I go on the site!
Anyone else seeing a problem with the CHIPIN box???
It's working fine here -- 5 contributors, $190, 38%, correct?
Thanks Mike,
That is what it says here too, and that is correct.
I guess that the electrons in Alabama must be travel a bit slower than they do over here. ;-)
No doubt! We're a slow, drawling species.
Clearing my cache fixed the tracking problem. Now it shows $190 and 5 donations. It will not allow me to donate though. At the bottom, it shows a graph, a "copy" and an "About" tab. Nothing to click on (no "Chipin" button) to donate and clicking on the widget itself (anywhere but the three lower tabs) does nothing.
Odd. I usually have no troubles with such stuff and if my security system doesn't like something it generally speaks its mind.
