Artist's Prize Collection No. 1 Fairbanks and Cole

Hello!

This one has been listed on ebay for quite some time.  Derrick Doty made this available for me to scan, and now it is on the Archive for anyone to enjoy.

Thanks to Derrick for saving this from obscurity!

Great. I have an original hard copy The Artist’s Prize Collection No.2. If that hasn’t been scanned, I could give it a go.

Of note is that this book contains the first printing of "Bay State Quickstep" which was later published as "Favorite" by Vess Ossman (complete with the composer removed) by CE.

It is interesting to compare the two.

That would be fantastic!!!!!

OK, Joel, I'll get around to it.

Joel,

I have 57 jpg pages of about 4MB each. Not sure what to do with them now. Suggestions?

You could we transfer them to me and I'll fool around with converting them to PDF.  Might be the easiest way.

Thanks!

I'll send them via WeTransfer - just click the link they send you. I have your email address.

You'll find some hand-written pieces inside the front two pages, some with the name John Dodge, who also wrote his name on the cover.

Got it Rob, Thanks!!

I think I got it PDFed, but it is on my home computer now so I'll share this evening.

Here's hoping it all works out, Joel. BTW, have you heard of John Dodge?

No. 2 now added!

Sorry, I've not heard of John Dodge.  I see this sort of thing a lot though as they lived in a world free of photocopiers and scanners.  There were some articles in the Crescendo and/or Cadenza complaining about it too.

Judging from how often I have seen manuscript copies of published pieces, I presume it was common to borrow your friends music and copy off a version for yourself.

Thanks for putting it on archive, Joel. Appreciated.

Thank you both for making these available! Added to my music hoard.
