Very Sad News. Michael Laurence Redpath has passed away.

I have received a message from Dawn Redpath giving me the sad news that her husband, friend of mine and Classic Style banjoist here in the UK, has died.

Mike has not been on site for a while but has always been there in the background and regularly contacted me with support for our work in promoting the style through the website. I could always rely on a nice comment when I posted videos on my playing on Youtube too! One that stuck in my mind was:

"Wonderful, just the best . Ian I can see that you have been spending lots of time in the woodshed , Mike."

Mike "spent a lot of time in the woodshed" too and was a superb player. Here he is playing a lovely piece "La Paloma"

This it very sad, condolences to family.

That's a really great playing which gives a really heavy and light feeling at the same time. This man knew how to play real music.
