A Site Dedicated to all enthusiasts of Classic Style Banjo
The intro is set to the rhythms Marc suggested. Then comes the first 8 bars of the tune's first part. The first two measures of this part (5 and 6 in the score) are played entirely on the third string (sounds very nice on zither-banjo) and measures 9 and 10 are also played on the third string.
Now it's up to someone else to compose the next bit, and then pass it on. Volunteers?

aargh !! the dreaded Ning Thing (the thing itself) attacks again and my post of the start of the banjo solo called "Ning Thing" is nowhere to be seen. But maybe this reply will make it visible.
Here ' s the intermediate midi file / Bump
...
The midi file prefer that you use FIREFOX to open it ; do not realy work with IE ...... ? ?
I use Safari, the web browser that comes with iMac computers. I was able to download "something" but it wasn't a midi file and whatever it was caused a freeze.
Are you sure that is Alfred Committee? It looks more like his cousin Jimmy Committee.

Are there no descendants of Alfred Committee willing to compose some more measures? Come on, someone give it a try! Ning Thing longs to be completed.
Yah, it begs to have a cool bass-string solo; something with a big "American" slide/glide and some typically British twiddly bits.
I already put the slide/giide in! On the third string though. But sure, it can have a bass string solo as well. So why not compose it? And a twiddly bit section. It doesn't have to be brilliant. A phrase with a beginning, a middle, and an end is what's needed. And it should connect in some way with the earlier phrases. that's exactly what Marc of Nice has done. And if it ends up sounding like it was composed by a committee, well... that was my attention all along. Of course, you, Alabama Marc are exempt from any further composerly duties as you supplied the original rhythms on which Ning Thing is based.
