Greetings and Happy and Healthy New Year to All, Dear Friends.

And speaking of new year, I started looking for a classic banjo rendering of Auld Lang Syne.  We don't have one in the music library.

I've found references to two sources.  Joel Hooks has an mp3 of it in the Banjo Hangout and others.  Joel cites the "The Howard Banjo Instructor, 1903."

There appears to be another version by S.S. Stewart, maybe in 1879.

I've done a credible search but could not find either.  Joel, or anyone else, could you make a copy that you have available?  I'd appreciate it!

Thanks,

Thom Edgar

Happy New Year Thomas,

I have added an arrangement with variations of Auld Lang Syne to the MUSIC LIBRARY for you.

..and here, with the assistance of Wikipedia, are the lyrics so that you can sing along in a Scottish accent.  ;-)

Shid ald akwentans bee firgot,
an nivir brocht ti mynd?
Shid ald akwentans bee firgot,
an ald lang syn?

CHORUS:
Fir ald lang syn, ma jo,
fir ald lang syn,
wil tak a cup o kyndnes yet,
fir ald lang syn.

What a wonderful resource this site is, and the people who live here.  Thanks so much!!

BTW, No one would ever confuse my English for a living language, I can't imagine what my "Scootish" would sound like!! ;-))
