One of Alfred Cammeyer's few fast banjo compositions. Played on a high model JE Dallas zither-banjo. I almost lose it at the end, but at least I'm never more...

Youtube (google really) is running me in circles. the latest anomaly is telling me that my video can't be loaded here and then deciding to drop 3 of the same video. They also are claiming my password is wrong and then logging me in anyway. I think google hates banjo players. anyway, I hope youze enjoy this video. It's a great tune and I get some parts right. Ironically it's the lowest two frets that nearly derails this rendition.

Excellent, Jody! Well done! That's a great tune...and the ZB didn't explode at the end or anything...

Very impressive Jody!  I could never get a decent tune out of my Zither banjo.. I just pick TOOO hard and using the fingertips as opposed to the nails makes the instrument sound awful. You make it sound real nice and the rasping bass is a delight to me.

I don't think that I recognise that Camm tune either. Lynn and I are suitably impressed, but Lynn says that you need to work on your gurning as there were only a couple of examples in your video.

Very impressive, there are very few videos of the zither-banjo being played as a zither-banjo on the internet and this tune brings out many of the instrument's fortes. The contrast between the 3rd/4th string voices and the 1st and 2nd strings is particularly effective in a number of passages. I don't think the bass string sounds bad at all, a bit of buzz but it sounds a lot fuller and bassier than on other zeebees.

Thanks everyone. I don't use any nail at all.  And I'm playing pretty hard. The bass string is copper wound on nylgut filaments. It makes all the difference. It's only when open that it buzzes. It didn't used to. I'll figure out why by and by. The third string is nylgut. I have real gut on my Abbott Amboyna. I'll post a video of that one soon. It's a brighter sounding banjo and would actually be too zingy for me if it weren't for a bamboo bridge Eric Stefanelli made for me.  I'll also make at least one more video of the JE Dallas zither-banjo and maybe take some photos. And some surprise videos as well.

The YC is a hard tune to play, well done. I'll play the second part for you if you're in Bristol in September.

Thank you, Richard, that would be great. I've no plans to cross the ocean this year, but anything is possible.
