San Jose Schottische played on five-string banza.

A charming little piece from the late 1800's by banjo composer Thomas Armstrong. Played by Jason Smith. visit: http://www.jaybirdbanjo.com

A really pretty tune - I like the tone from the banza; unusual to see someone playing with picks but I like it!

Very nice, Jason! Armstrong had a talent for writing tuneful little solos. I recently played his "Hungarian Minuet" and it's just that -- surprisingly good for a solo that fits on just half a page!

Very Good and on a nice sounding Banza too.

It sounds very much like "Baa Baa black sheep, have you any wool?"

  to me ;-)

Thanks for all the nice comments!...I really like the music I can find of Armstrong- I would like to know more about him but haven't really been able to find much.  Thanks too for posting the music.

I will get to work on incorporating lyrics (baa, baa) and who knows, you may get to hear me sing a few notes!  (:

Beautiful tone and playing. I will have a look and see if I have any info about Thomas Armstrong, I think that he used to share a column with Clarence Partee, in the 'Cadenza' magazine.
