Today I should get my hands on a Luscomb. I am sharing restoration repair fees with the owner in exchange for letting me borrow it for a while. It has nylgut strings and a skin head. I'll post a few pictures and put up some videos, and I will appreciate comments and directions from you hardened veterans. I'll be open to repertoire suggestions, as I start with overflow from my fretless material. Thanks in advance.

Of course it's a man thing... furthermore, wives have known that hair (and the progressive, BRA-caused loss thereof) was related to banjo playing since biblical times:

And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called a non-banjoist, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his BANJOHAIR; and she began to afflict him, and his BANJOSTRENGTH left him. (Banjoists 16:19)

Even the greats succumb to BRA...

Now you see it

Now you don't!

It must be noted that symptoms of BRA can be observed at a very early stage, and it manifests itself in an increasingly receding hairline... treatment often involves strenuous exercise under the form of Morris dancing (with a hobby horse!) which would explain why most banjoists prefer to endure the effects of BRA.

That's actually a box that once contained plastic bottles of PUREX, a brand of bleach. The "shelf" is the floor of the luggage compartment of a bus. Purex has a similar effect to Durex, it's just a different species that is prevented from being fruitful and multiplying.
