I was misled.

I was misled. That is a quote for Stephen King's "The Stand," I can't remember exactly where or from whom, but some guy had just been whacked by the devil and his last words were "I was misled..."

I spent the bulk of my years in the banjo world playing exclusively in the bluegrass style. And I enjoyed it immensely, no doubt about it. I used to read everything I could get my hands on about Earl Scruggs and the development of the banjo style. Everything I read told me the… Continue

My pleasure, Carl. Thanks for creating this network. Although I really enjoy Stroke Style, I'd say Classic is my favorite-among-favorites.

Carl, do you have the notation for Riverside Schottische? Seeing as you are from Kansas, I have Kansas Jig with the 3rd Part by Ellis. Usually you only find it wiith 2 parts.

On the subject of 'haunted', how about this. I found this page from a Diary dated 1899 and it shows where a bloke bought some banjo strings from another bloke named R. Jones. Now that's really Spooky. Ray

Hi Carl, yes, I believe I tabbed it out last year. I haven't been near my home computer in a week (we've been doing a bunch of cleaning and it is buried at the moment) but I'll check for it tonight. ===Marc

Thanks Carl -
I've just started some research and a cd on Horace Weston and found this group - fantastic! Look forward to participating.

Thanks a ton Carl -
It's been kind of slow going but I hope it'll be done this year. I'm having to squeeze it in between making a living with guitar. Its hard to find recording people that don't want to make it sound like a bluegrass banjo - I get a lot of puzzled looks in the studio.
I think I saw a post on here that said you collected old music journals - I'm looking for a library somewhere that has some copies of Gatcomb's Banjo and Guitar Gazette. The Library of Congress has it on Microfilm but I'd love to be able to look at some actual issues. You ever gotten your hands on any of these?

I really like most of Mr. Weidt's work. He is probably my favourite composer. As the Advert slogan says, " Do it right, with A. J. Weidt "

Hi Carl
With the festive season drawing near, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for creating the Ning site. I am sure that everyone who has contributed and learned from it, appreciates the fun that we have all had over the past months. So to you and all the members, Merry Christmas and have a safe one. Ray
