The Jolly Soldier Boy

I posted my first arrangements here, The Jolly Soldier Boy. I'd appreciate any input you care to give. Found in the November, 1935, edition of The Etude, the piece is in their ongoing "progressive music for orchestra" series. I cannot find information about the composer, Edward Beyer; but this is a combination of the piano and the violin parts.

Hi Nic,  nice job!  I'll read this through with banjo in hand this evening.

At first glance of your score, the only recommendation I could make is the following book:

This is a great resource on how to make your scores look good.   I am picky, and things like stem direction, page balance, position markers, etc., should all follow form for easy reading.  On easier pieces this is less important but quickly sneaks up as pieces become more involved.

Thank you, Joel. I will look into this book. I wouldn't handwrite a score like this. Try as I might, Tabledit keeps throwing the stems in the wrong direction.

Musescore will do everything you want. Tabledit is obsolete.

Good to know. I purchased a licensed version of Tabledit about five or six years ago. It is quirk upon quirk, but I became pretty confident with the shortcuts.

I concur. Musescore is free and most of the occasional updates are actually improvements.
