The American Rag (A Patriotic Medley) (1909)....Harry L. Newman & Roy Barton

This is a selection of 9 patriotic tunes given the ragtime treatment and is very well done indeed. The tunes are; Dixie, The Girl I left behind me aka Brighton Camp, Rally Round The Flag, My Maryland, Yankee Doodle, Star Spangled Banner, Marching Through Georgia, Red, White and Blue and finishing with America (My country 'tis of thee).

My favourites are Dixie and Marching Through Georgia.

I've simplified my arrangement as much as possible by omitting some of the chords and rewriting a few bits here and there to make it more banjo friendly, in particular my arrangement of 'America' which I suppose could be described as Scruggs/Bluegrass meets Ragtime!

The completed score runs to four pages but you could pick and mix rather than play the whole thing in one go. The score and midi are in the library...Steve.

LOL. That looks like a workout. I'm with you, Dixie and Marching Thru Georgia are standouts. Rally Round The Flag got lost in the syncopation and Maryland is too much like Oh Tannenbaum...
