I am really sorry to let you know that I have just received the very sad news of the unexpected death of a leading member of the UK Banjo Community.  David Wade, who has been a site administrator here on Classic Banjo Ning for ten years died suddenly, and unexpectedly, this afternoon.

We are all shocked and dismayed at this news. David was a leading light in arranging the Banjo Festivals across the UK and his contributions will be sadly missed.  I would like to send my sincere commiserations to Carolyn and his family. He is a great loss to us all and I am still shocked to hear the news.

This is sad news: David was a fount of knowledge in relation to the development of banjos in the pierrot troupes and concert parties of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was always generous with his thoughts and resources when I made enquiries about these topics.

My condolences to his family.

Tony Lidington

AKA Uncle Tacko!

A big and unexpected loss to the Classic Banjo community.  My online interactions with him were always positive. He will be missed.

I am saddened and shocked to hear this terrible news. Like many others I first met David at Clowne where he made me very welcome. Subsequently, I made the long trip south to Backwell one year and had the pleasure of David and Carolyn's company in the hotel on the Saturday night. My sincere condolences to Carolyn and family.

A real loss to his family, friends and the banjo community. My condolences.

So sorry to hear of David's passing. A great loss to the CB and ZB community.

Here is a message I received from my friend Keith Wilson.

------------
On Monday, my Banjo Buddy David Wade passed quite suddenly and unexpectedly.
He Was My Classic Banjo teacher and inspiration in many Banjo matters.
I will miss our regular meet ups when we shared a good old natter over a Beer, and planned the  Banjo festivals.
I have known Dave for many years, and life will NOT be the same without him.
Our deepest sympathy goes to Carolyn and family,
RIP Dave

It’s very sad news indeed, he will be very much missed.

Such sad news. I’d known Dave for many years and what a lovely down to earth chap he was. Knowledgeable with all things banjo and his enthusiasm was very infectious. Shall miss his ‘ey up Murchie’ at Backwell Rally. Rest easy mate.

This is sad news indeed.

As a person with a special interest in zither banjos it is a bit like having the rug ripped out from under your feet. Who can we turn to now with questions about all things zither banjo? I fear that a lot of knowledge about the zither banjo is lost with Daves passing.

And of course the loss we feel in the banjo comunity is nothing compared to the loss that his familly is experiencing. My deepest condolences goes to his familly. May he rest in piece.

RIP Dave , condoléances to his familly
