Shufflin’ Pete was written by pianist and composer Edwin F. Kendall in 1899. Ossman recorded it for Berliner the same year. It is a catchy cakewalk reminiscent in some ways of “Whistling Rufus”, and not difficult to play.

When the banjo score was published, Kendall was not credited as composer. That is now corrected. The publisher’s note “Arranged and played with the greatest possible Success . . .  “  suggests Vess L made this a hit.

Sorry folks, there’s no original recording this time. For digital playback, the banjo score is merged with the piano, giving a fairly realistic result. Have a listen.
