My home town is Malvern in Worcestershire and I live a few miles from the birthplace of one of England's greatest composers. Elgar lived in Malvern for 55 of his 76 years and he and his wife are buried at Little Malvern Priory. He wrote this tune for his wife to celebrate their wedding. Enough of the history lesson, this is a revamp of an arrangement I did way back and is relevant to the current discussion regarding composing/arranging for classic banjo. I was unable to replicate the dynamics on the MP3 as it sounded a bit robotic so I've attached a recording on violin by Esther Abrami. Whether or not it's a suitable tune for banjo is very subjective but it is an example of what is possible. It is an abridged version of the full score..Steve.
