Hi Folks,

Sorry that I have not replied to the great comments left on my video... Thanks everyone for the encouragement!!! It means the world to have the great folks here write nice things.

This weekend I went through and downloaded all the Morley pieces from the library.  99% of them are out of my reach I think.

I'll admit that I did not really know much about the feller.  I read some stuff online about him and he seems stand up.

Are the pieces in the library all that were published?  Are there lost #s (not counting MS and unpublished works)?

I was planning on printing out and putting together a book of his stuff for myself, just wondering if that was it.

As is, it is a huge body of work.

I have the PDF of his book, in two parts from Hal's site, but it seems to be missing a chunk in the middle.

What is missing?

Well done, Mike. You are right, the order is alphabetical, not random.

This is caused by the fact that Hal (or whoever scanned that copy) organised the solos alphabetically rather than in their original order. I've got a different scan in which the original solo order is maintained, "A Refrain" (page 64) is the last solo in the book, and also the last page, but it is placed first in Hal's scan. This explains the odd page order.

Yep,  I just corrected the order to match the table of contents on the one I have.

I was not aware that the Morley books on my website were in any other order than what you see. I certainly didn't indiscriminately leave out pages. I will take a look and try to re-order the pages. I will get back to you when I have done this.

How's that again? An order other than what we see? The oddity is that what we see does not correspond to the table of contents but is alphabetical. Let us know if it is that way in the book please. That would be very interesting to know. And thank you (and Alabama Marc) for making these books accessible.

I have re-ordered the pages in the "Joe Morley Banjo Tutor-13 Solos" to reflect how they are listed in the "Joe Morley Banjo Tutor-Exercises". The first 5 pages in the "Exercises" are not numbered. Page 1 begins with the Preface page. That makes 47 pages in the "Exercises" though the last page is listed as 42. I hope this makes everyone happy.

Hi Hal, I was not upset, and I don't think anyone else was here.

I love your site and have used the books you have graciously posted quite a bit.

I have not played with the Morley stuff, and wanted to work through the exercises.  That was when I saw the page count and thought something was missing (thusly I wanted to find that missing part).

I then quickly figured it out, reordered them, and printed a copy.  I went over a good chunk of it this morning.

Some of the suggested fingerings are awkward, but it is interesting and I am enjoying it.

Thanks!

I am glad it worked out for you, Joel. Thanks for bringing the error to my attention. Users are the only way to find out if something isn't working correctly and I appreciate your effort in letting me know.
