This is a tune suggested by Ian and is one of Joplin's slow Rags.

 

 

I changed it from Ab to G as it's a more suitable key for banjo and I've omitted some of the repeats as it was overly long. There are some interesting chord progressions and bits of timing. The score and midi are in the library....Steve.

I like this piece, and it is of particular interest as it appears that Joplin was getting annoyed with all the "clever" pianists of the time who were playing his ragtime compositions too fast and added this comment to this publication!

I prefer rags played a bit slower than you normally hear them

...  so it appears that thereallyniceman and Scott Joplin were correct "-)

Quite right Ian, a good ragtime tune should never be a 'race to the end'. Both Joplin and Scott usually added the instruction 'not to be played fast' to their scores. The speed at which I set Leola on the midi is just about right I think....Steve.
