A Site Dedicated to all enthusiasts of Classic Style Banjo
For those who haven’t seen this…
Jan & Kjeld fortunately did not play Classic Style Banjo (and possibly not any style of banjo playing)
The video is a must watch if only for its amazing finger syncing and “creepy nature”.
How do they make Mandolins levitate like that??
My guess is that Jan & Kjeld grew up to be axe murderers! 8-{

The mandolins are stationary. It's Jan and Kjeld who are suspended and spinning. BTW that mandolin with the bowl of alternate dark and light ribs sure is pretty.
The duo were Danish, it seems. Or maybe Swedish. A google translation into "English" from the German wikipedia page is as bizarre as the Banjo Boy video. Here is the first paragraph. I especially like "1958 rose from the father".
Kjeld Wennick (born February 3, 1944 in Granna , Sweden) learned as a child banjo playing and came in 1956 with his father. But Kjelds younger brother Jan (born 27 July 1946 in Copenhagen ) was allowed to travel with and later also learned to play the banjo. As he was left-handed, a corresponding instrument was purchased for him. 1958 rose from the father and Jan took his place in the duo. When Jan and Kjeld won several singing competitions, the two brothers in their home so that they could soon occur in radio and television.
I could have done without that video. I may have nightmares for weeks about hover-mandolins and rotating Danes.
Yup, another giant step for online translators. Reminds me when I first encountered a translated mechanic's manual. It was for a French helicopter and the translation was probably done by the lowest bidder . I remember all of us 20-something mechanics laughing that it universally translated the French word for "unusal" into the English word "stupid". The result was something along these lines: "The rotor system is removed in a stupid manner, so much attention is required."
It was a fine helicopter, with a stupid unusual manual.

Maybe the spinning instruments hanged themselves.
Actually, it's a bit catchy. I'll bet they grew up to be international playboys...or axe murders, could go either way.
Using my unmatched Swedish skills, I have transcribed these profound lyrics so that you may all sing-a-long-a Jan and Kjeld.
Lyrics:
Jeder Abu Ghraib gives dosh to Streisand
Im der kleiner Stark in Tennessee
Und die crews, und die kleinen loiterers
Killen alles mit ein Melody!
Sing a leaves, sing a leaves, leetel bänjo boeh! (x3)
You are sick, you are sick, leetel bänjo boeh! (x2)
Bänjo Boy is herr Von Kluck!
So I sing dagga-digga-dag, sing song
so that Gott im Himmel sits!
Ist das sing dagga-digga-dagga sing song
Über Alles im der Welt!
Sing a leaves, sing a leaves, leetel bänjo boeh! (x3)
(Instrumental break with banjo with crazy echo + reverb and hand kazoo)
Sing a leaves, sing a leaves, leetel bänjo boeh! (x3)
So I sing dagga-digga-dag, sing song
so that Gott im Himmel sits!
Ist das sing dagga-digga-dagga sing song
Über Alles im der Welt!
Sing a leaves, sing a leaves, leetel bänjo boeh! (x3)
Mike,
You are wasted playing the banyo! With translation skills like this you could earn a fortune ;-)
… or alternatively you could make an updated version of this as your next video and become an over night internet sensation.
I will drag out my old spring-line reverberation unit for you to use in the Banyo break. I am surprised that more classic style players don’t use a nice bit of echo..echo..echo..echo..echo..echo
PS. It was a kazoo, was it? I thought that he had lost his tissue.
PPS. I wonder just how many visitors will be daft enough to sing along
… like thereallynicelady and I did?
Oh yes, plenty of career opportunities there. I learnt with an online course!
I suppose that they were kept in a pretty strong cage, the camera would have been poked through the bars, they definitely have a 'Boys from Brazil' look about them, very scary.
