A recording by Vess Ossman and Parke Hunter

Here is another, rarely heard, recording by the Masters of Classic Banjo, Vess Ossman and Parke Hunter.

This is a 1904 recording entitled “Navajo”, and described on the record as a characteristic Indian two-step.

(Please don’t tell me that they were Native Americans as I can’t change the history… just enjoy!)

A pleasant piece. It's rather stately second part suggests a better title may have been "Ivanhoe".

The Trio conjures the image of a country fair suggesting the title "Idaho".   I dunno. Whatever.

Navajo/Ivanhoe/ Idaho/ and....I  dunno!  Why stop with I Dunno ?

There's Isle Au Haut, Arapaho, Tally Ho; the possibilities are many, if only this banjo piece had more parts.
