Marcella Henry was involved in Axel Christensen's piano teaching schools in Chicago. This tune was taken from Vol.3 of The Ragtime Review, a monthly magazine published by Christensen. I'm not keen on Christensen's style of ragtime, I find it a bit formulaic but this one breaks the mold. It's a mishmash of American patriotic songs. It's well written and is ideally suited to the banjo. The first part on the piano score is in D but I've arranged it in C as it works better with the banjo. I've given it the full banjo treatment and it's well worth a play. My suggested fingering contains elements of classic style...Steve.
