I have not been around much on site recently, what, nobody missed me???

But hope to be around much more from now. Thank you to everyone who has posted comments and videos and for the moderators who have looked after the site. I won’t bore you, but after family and health problems I now seem to be emerging from a grim few months.

One thing I would like to do is give all MAC users a warning. I, along with most other MAC users, have been blissfully computing and browsing the net safe in the knowledge that MAC computers don’t get viruses.

…  WRONG… A few days ago I was downloading a midi to MP3 converter from a seemingly legitimate website and  WALLOP, my computer was infected immediately and within minutes was totally destroyed… NOTHING would work and I had, eventually, reformat and re-install everything. Fortunately I had a back-up, but it is not an easy job to set everything up again as things can and do go wrong!

SO PLEASE HEED MY WARNING. DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING ON A MAC UNLESS YOU ARE 100% SURE THE APPLICATION IS GENUINE.

The malware my computer was infected with simply installed itself. It took over my browsers and spammed adverts before eventually everything ground to a halt.

Watch out for and avoid the GENIEO  news reader. Which is what got me!

Here is an article about the malware, or do a Google or Wikipedia search for it:
