I have created a new page with video lessons to help players new to the banjo, and those new to Classic Style, learn to play classic fingerstyle banjo.

 The first five videos include an introduction to the  of the style and details of the type of banjo used, its set-up and the type on music played. Future videos will give instruction on techniques and exercises which will lead on to playing a full 'Classic Style' banjo solo.

This is truly magnificent, well done; the lesson including tuning the banjo head is reallyimportant and something which is not always taught. A very good job indeed.

Thank you for all the kind comments. There have been some adjectives used  that I have never heard before, particularly regarding my banjo playing :-)

 

Sorry all this takes so long. Producing one of these short videos takes an unbelievable amount of time to organise. I don't have any time left to practise!! If anyone would like to contribute anything that would be of help for those learning Classic Style, video, audio or anything else, please do contact me or post on the group.

Also if anyone wants me to "attempt" to cover a specific topic about learning the style, please ask. I may be able to add these to a video, or if I can't help someone else may make suggestions.

 

I have already received offers from a couple of members to produce short videos, but this is in the future.

 

Please keep watching and posting...keep the site buzzing! Please post any articles from the past, photos, suggestions ...  tell me what I am doing wrong and what a rubbish "old duffer" of a banjo player I am... it is all part of the fun :-)

I click on the LESSONS heading on the website and the Lessons page comes up but the page is blank except for the heading.  Everything else on the website opens just fine.  Is the Lessons page temporarily shut down or ....?    Eager to see your highly recommended videos.

This is a website glitch. We are working on it. Sorry! Nothing was changed here, so it may be at the Ning server. We have had a few problems with Ning recently. I hope that we will be able to get it up again soon.

Do you have Java installed and enabled in your webbrowser?  You will need this to watch the videos.
