Whistling Rufus is a very popular piece of Classic Banjo music and is guaranteed to have been played, will be played or at least attempted, by everyone learning classic style.

As with many old banjo scores the fingering shown on the notation can often be improved or even discarded completely!  I have posted this video along with an original score and a score of the first part showing MY fingering. It may not be to everyone’s liking, so if you can suggest alterations, alternatives or improvements please post a reply.

I will post the second and third sections over the next few weeks, as I get time.

(It all depends on the amount of abuse I get for the first part !!)

Nice! Confound the neighbours. If they don't like it, they should know that for their slight upon the Rufus that Whistleth, they will be confined to the depths of hell and be made to listen distorted cylinders of Olly Oakley for all eternity.

Great job, Ian, this should help people get started with this great song! AFAIK there are quite a number of arrangements out there, which one is best?

The notes going along with the playing.  That is BRILLIANT.  Thank you Ian.
