Louis Moreau Gottschalk  was may be one of the first classical compositor trying to include something from the traditional music in the classical music ; from the traditionals musics , should i say because of his numerous influences . It was circa  1840 and he couldn ‘t join the French classical conservatory in Paris because of this , too much modern music  “ avant gardiste “ in French .I love Louis Moreau Gottschalk ‘ tunes . I choosed to try playing this one ; of course , this is my own version . There are only 5 strings and it is difficult to play what the piano plays  in Gottschalk ‘ style   for instance . See my funny photo and you will understand what i mean .. It would be interesting to play with a 1st & a 2nd banjo , and also a piccolo Bj or may be a banjeaurine for the trebbles ‘ parts . My CE banjo is tuned regular with the bass in D . I choosed my clipper ; because of the “ bottle opener “ tailpiece , the 1st string beetween the bridge and the tailpiece give me something like a high F# or a low G . It is enought for me , i need this note .

By the way, there is and arrangement of "The Banjo" by Gottschalk in the ABF's Five Stringer.  I can't remember what issue.  It was about 10 years ago I think.
