Rag Pickings, arr. by Fred Van Eps (classic fingerstyle banjo)

Ok! Now I understand which measure 80 we're speaking about--not the cadence, but the preceding ascending sequence. Counting measures is tricky business. I think that I also like the F# there as well. Oy! I'm so glad that we have these networks to work it out.

Yes, I'm enjoying this. Maybe you need to make more "mistakes" Greg, that way we'll all learn something! ;-)

Y'all have a happy 4th. I've got to go prep the grill for this afternoon! Anybody want a dog or a burger?

It is good to see Mr MacKillop back in Ningland.  Well played Greg, and only two bum notes ;-)

I would blame the score if I were you!  I would love to be able to play it with only two bum notes. We could learn a LOT if I played it!

I would recommend everyone to try The Amazing Slowdowner software from www.ronimusic.com. It allows to to slow these recordings down really slow that you can virtually hear every note at the correct pitch. I transposed a full Van Eps piece using this recently and find it VERY useful, even for playing along with the original recordings at a slower speed while practising.

Ketchup, mustard and plenty of onions on my Hotdog please, Marc.

Ketchup on your hot dog?

(sorry, I just had to :-P)

Oh yeah, and +1000 to the Amazing Slowdowner -- it really IS worth the money. It's also great to be able to play along with songs slowed down... it's a really useful tool.

Yeah, I know putting ketchup on a hotdog in Chicago will usually get you run outta town...some of the dog houses won't serve ketchup at all. I prefer ketchup and mustard and cheese on mine.

I've been messing about with "Rag Pickings" for about a year but have never really sat down to learn it. Great tune though...glad to see it and discuss. I'm sure we could spend an eternity on the L/H fingering alone...all those scalar runs!

Mike, don't listen to Harry Callahan, he is just a wimp. Get that ketchup on the dog, it will make a man of you!   ...and cheese too? Good thinking Marc!

I have never tried to play Rag Pickings. I had better have a look to see what all the fun is about.

Harry Callahan, a wimp? Well, to Chuck Norris, perhaps ;-)
