I think I've listened to this about a dozen times now. WHAT GREAT MUSIC. Very, very well played, Marc, and Olly Oakley is a superb composer.

thx ; Olly play it on the zyther like a machine gun ; however , i havesome doubts ' bout these olds cylinders or 78LP 's recordings ; for sure they ( Olly , Tarant bailey & others ) play faster than i can do , but i think they may used to speed up the recordings ;

It is was indeed difficult to figure out at what speed many of these recordings were taken. However, most of these are "pitch-matched". That is, one listens to the recording and speeds it up or slows it down to get it to pitch...assuming you know the original intended key/pitch.

Before computerization, the methods used to fake the speed up generally resulted in a very easy to hear difference. Changing the speed on a cylinder machine is easy but the range of usable speed is very narrow...I'm not sure you could change the pitch a whole tone by recording slow and playing back fast.

Olly was amazingly fast, Joe Morley also. However, they were professionals...no doubt they could have gone faster!
