A Site Dedicated to all enthusiasts of Classic Style Banjo
Played by Greg Adams on his Chuck Devinne Banjo. Here's one of several new pieces I'm learning. I was inspired to learn the opening sections of the piece (because I had the sheet music) based on the 1914 recording by the Van Eps Trio. If anyone has the "dots" for the remaining sections, would you share them with me? I don't have the time to transcribe the performance (too many other banjo- and archival-related projects going on). You can hear the original recording here: http://www.loc.gov/jukebox/recordings/detail/id/3805/

Speak of the devil and he doth appear -- Van Eps is getting some well-deserved attention! :D
Well done, Greg, that was a great performance. Real ragtime, Fred would be proud.
Superb Greg., great ragtime playing and that banjo sounds better and better! I wonder how Fred V/E played so fast when you listen to the recording!
We have the dots in the MUSIC LIBRARY (although they may not be totally what you want) and the Van Eps Trio Chinese Picnic in already available to play in the JUKEBOX
Ian
I think he's talking about the "Oriental Dance" that Mr Van Eps plays after "Chinese Picnic". I have the CP dots (and as Ian sez, they're here in the library...but they're also at Hal's site "Classicbanjo.com"). I've never seen the dots to the "Oriental Dance" portion. It was written by Victor Herbert...I wonder if there is (piano) sheet music out there?
BTW, well done, Mr. Adams!!
That was great, and put a smile on my face ( first time today ) :)
good choice for the tune ; great playing ; bravo
