( composed by F W Meacham / 1885 )
I heard my father playing this lovely tune on the piano , this summer ; so i had the idea to play
my version ; i am not sure of the original key ; i choosed to play it in C , the regular one for our favorite instrument ; the tune used to be played by the great Gleen Miller orchestra , key of Eb , i guess , alto saxophones are Eb & trumpets Bb ; i even founded on the web a version in D played by an old aéolian upright piano . Of course , i don ‘ t play this on an English banjo but on my Vegaphone ; Ian , do i play “ economic “ enough ? ; if not , it is my own fault , not the banjo ‘ fault because the serial number say :1929 , so i think the Vegaphone is economic enough ..

- A fine American march
- A fine tune he learned from his father
- A fine original American banjo
- played by a froggy :-)

..And played beautifully and economically too, Marc. I could hardly see your fingers moving !!

How cool! I also thought you were going to jump into "Farewell Blues"...and I was thinking this would be a different piece (not having read your description before I started the video). Damn, I love big band music...and Glen Miller was no slouch.

If I played this piece down at the coffeehouse, they would be up and dancing...albeit a bit slower than when they did during WWII. It was a huge hit for Miller in '42.

Thanks!
