Profile Information

I have been a semi-pro musician for 40 years. I have recorded bluegrass (with Old Hickory), ragtime (with Banjo Cocktail) and folk-rock (with the JSD Band). I have played a range of festivals, TV and radio shows and shared the Glasgow Concert Hall’s stage with Billy Connolly and Ralph McTell. I played solo and as part of a Raleigh-based old time country music band at festivals in Virginia and North Carolina.

I teach various banjo styles – frailing, bluegrass and Classic-fingerstyle – through the Village School of Music, East Kilbride, Glasgow (https://www.villageschoolofmusic.co.uk/). I have tablaturised more than 150 Classic banjo pieces.
